About Fong Leong Engineering
The company was first established in 1999. It was registered as Fong Leong Engineering Works and provided services covering piping fabrication and welding works. This was the core business in the early years and the majority of work was in power plants and pharmaceutical industry as well as maintenance works and plant shut-downs.
Fong Leong Engineering Works (FLE) started off by concentrating on small projects and worked with a few main contractors. Our unwavering commitment to tight work schedules, good quality, competency and reliability were the major factors that helped FLE to convince Clients to engage us as their core contractor. This has been vital in building the strong foundation that we have today.
Good quality, productivity, reliability and safe work practices were the fundamentals of FLE. With these values and the trust from Clients, we were able to expand into other scopes namely erection of steel structure, heavy equipment installation and alignment work, commissioning assistance, turnaround and major maintenance work.
We were involved in most of the major construction projects in Singapore such as ExxonMobil, Shell Eastern Petroleum Ltd., Evonik, Afton, Lucite and Lanxess in the Oil & Gas, Petrochemicals and Pharmaceutical Industry.
We started with just 20 employees and as the company grew amid the booming market, the workforce progressively rose to a peak of 650 men in 2007 to 2009. We continued to maintain around 200 to 400 men after that for our local operations.
In 2016, we ventured into Malaysia and were awarded the Petronas owned Refinery and Petrochemical Integrated Development (RAPID) Project. We successfully completed the project in 2018 and during peak time we employed up to 850 men from various nationalities.
The downturn in the Oil and Gas industry in the past few years mandated a change in our operations strategy. We believe our experienced and skilled workforce combined with our prudent management will keep us in good stead in facing the challenges ahead.
On 1 July 2018, FONG LEONG ENGINEERING PTE LTD was incorporated as a Exempt Private Company Limited.
In July 2019, Fong Leong Engineering Pte. Ltd. attained the ISO 9001:2015, ISO 14001:2015 and ISO 45001:2018 certification.
